Why do we need Islam? Why choose a religion?

Iبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْم
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of Godthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful."

Why do we need Islam? Why choose a religion?

In this life for anything to work there must be a specific structure. For example, if you want your business to run there must be rules, boss, manager, employees, set working time, paperwork and so on. Otherwise the business will fail.
If there wouldn't be traffic laws and regulations, many people would die every day.
In order for school to operate it needs to have teachers, students, class rooms, set lesson time etc...
So equally for us as human beings there must be a structure, so our lives would "work". If you wake up every day, wash your body, feed it, and go to work - you are wasting your time on something which is temporary. Every body will die one day. But if you maintain your prayers, give charity, ask God the Exalted for forgiveness - these are the actions that will clean your soul and remain with you forever because the soul is eternal.
More logical and smarter way is to take care of your soul first before your body. And surely you have to keep yourself clean, eat healthy, and have proper sleeping schedule to prevent some sicknesses. However, all our major problems are coming from inside. If our soul suffers, the body gets sick. If we are angry, the body gets pain. If we are missing someone, the body is weak. If we feel lack of love in life, the body gets destroyed and dies. These are the examples of real people in this life not just a theory.
That is why God the Exalted says that every human being needs HIM. We need to have a specific way of living - the religion. And if we will start creating a "perfect life structure" ourselves like many psychologists are trying to do nowadays, we will fail. Its very common nowadays to visit psychologist therapy sessions. What are we doing there? Looking for solutions to life's problems. Weather it's a complicated relationship, bills, stress, family issues, sickness, depression or something else. But ask yourself: "Do you really get answers from those sessions?" Besides that you just talk out your problem to someone and feel kind of "relieved". In the reality no problem will be solved with the advice of another human being. Because no human have the knowledge that God the Exalted possesses. We don't know the past and the future, we don't know what is hidden in other people's hearts. We don't have the life experience of centuries. Our body desires make us weak. Our mood changes from day to day. So it doesn't matter how hard we try, there will always be something that won't benefit properly or even harm us. God The Exalted has already prepared for us solutions to any problem in this life and hereafter. HE (GAE) provided them in the Holy Quran and it is absolutely free for everyone. If you want to find answers to your life situation, you just need to open Quran and you will see yourself on one of the pages.
The way of living that God the Exalted created for us is perfect. There is no unanswered questions and there is a benefit in each and every action.

SO WHERE DO WE START?

We start with our iman. Iman (faith) is the base in our religion, strength in our lives, and salvation in hereafter.

HADITH

It was narrated on the authority of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him. He sat down close by the Prophet (peace be upon him), rested his knee against his thighs, and said, "O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam."
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that you should perform salah (prayer), pay the Zakah (charity), fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House, if you are able to do so."
The man said, "You have spoken truly." We were astonished at his questioning him (the Messenger) and telling him that he was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about iman."
He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in qadar (fate), both in its good and in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken truly."
Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you."

He said, "Inform me about the Hour." He (the Messenger of Allah) said, "About that, the one questioned knows no more than the questioner." So he said, "Well, inform me about the signs thereof." He said, "They are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute, the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty buildings." Thereupon the man went of.
I waited a while, and then he (the Messenger of Allah) said, "O Umar, do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril (the Angel Gabriel). He came to teach you your religion.

Angels protect every man and every woman!

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of Godthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful."

Did you know that angels protect every one of us all the time?

Allah (SWT) mentions about it in The Holy Quran:

"
For each one are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allah . Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron."
(Surat Ar-Rad, 13:11)

The Tafsir (detailed explanation)
al-Jalalayn of this ayat says:
For him, for man, are attendants (muʿaqqibāt), angels who follow him, to his front and to his rear (the meaning of muʿaqqibāt is the angels of the night and day, which come one after the other in succession), guarding him through God’s command, that is, by His command, from [the danger of] the jinn and others. Indeed God does not alter the state of a people — He does not deprive them of His grace — unless they have altered the state of their souls, from [their] comely nature, through an act of disobedience. And if God wills misfortune, chastisement, for a people there is none that can repel it, either from among the attendant angels or others; and they, for whom God wills misfortune, have no protector (min wālin: min is extra) to avert it from them, apart from Him, that is, other than God.

From this ayat we understand that there are angels who are appointed to protect humans' eyes, ears, hands, legs and so on. In case if we fall, or get hurt, most of the time the injury appears right next to an eye, or right by the ear but it does not effect the main part. It's because the angels protected us by the will of Allah (SWT). And they guard every each and one of us at all times. The angels come to us in 2 groups. One group comes at the time of Fajr (the angels of the day) and another one at the time of Asr (the angels of the night). They come in the manner that one group "steps on the heels" of another. Meaning that we are not left without protection even for a second throughout the day. Subhan Allah! Such a Mercy from our Creator! After the group of angels leave us they go straight to Allah (SWT) to give a report of our actions. And of course Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing but HE (SWT) still listens to them. If the angels left us while we were praying at the times of Fajr and Asr then the report sounds beautiful: "We came while he/she was praying and we left them in the same condition." But imagine, if we were doing something else at that time. What report will be given to our Creator? Sometimes we are embarrassed when someone talks about our mistakes in the presence of other people. Now think, every day the angels are talking about us in the presence of The Almighty and other angels. How embarrassed would it be when our report is not what we wanted to hear..

May Allah (SWT) strengthen our imaan and help us fulfill HIS commands. In shaa Allah!

Story: Believer & Disbeliever

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of Godthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful."

Once the believer met a man and they had a conversation. The man asked: "Who is your God?" The believer replied: "HE is The One and Only, Who created the Heavens and the Earth. HE never dies, never sleeps. HE was never born and never gave birth. HE knows what people reveal and what they conceal in their hearts." Then the man said: "I can see our gods, can I see yours?" The believer replied: "Look at the sun for about 5 minutes." Man said: "I can't. My eyes hurt." The believer said: "If you can't look at the creation of God, how can you see Him?" The man was curious about another thing and he asked: "Why are your women always covered?" The believer smiled and said: "Our women are not like a moon when everyone is enjoying observing it's beauty. Instead they are like the sun. When people look at it they have to lower their gaze." Both of them enjoyed the conversationand and the believer invited the man to his house. When they reached there safely the believer showed his hospitality and offered the man juice and grapes. He accepted the fruits but requested wine instead of the juice. The believer kindly replied that they don't drink wine therefore do not carry one. The man wondered and asked: "Strange. You eat grapes but you don't drink wine even though the wine is made out of grapes?" The believer then asked: "Do you have children?" The man said: "Yes, I have a daughter." Believer: "Can you marry her?" Man: "No way! It's impossible!" The believer then said: "Strange. You are married to her mother but can not marry your daughter, even though one came from another.."

Story: Pious man called drunkard and fornicator

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of Godthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful."

Sultan Murad IV, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1623-1640, would often anonymously go into the midst of the people and see their state. One evening, he felt an uneasiness in himself and the urge to go out. He called for his head of security and and out they went. They came to a busy vicinity, and found a man lying on the ground. The Sultan prodded him but he was dead and the people were going about their own business. Nobody seemed to care about the dead man lying on the ground. The Sultan called upon the people. they didn't recognize him and asked him what he wanted. He said, "Why is this man lying dead on the ground and why does no one seem to care? Where is his family?" They replied, "He is so and so, the drunkard and fornicator!"BThe Sultan said, "Is he not from the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW)? Now help me carry him to his house" They people carried the dead man with the Sultan to his house and once they reached, they all left. The Sultan and his assistant remained. When the man's wife saw his dead body, she began weeping. She said to his dead body, "Allah have mercy on you! O friend of Allah! I bear witness that you are from the pious ones." The Sultan was bewildered. He said, "How is he from the pious ones when the people say such and such things about him. So much so that no one even cared he was dead?" She replied, "I was expecting that. My husband would go to the tavern every night and buy as much wine as he could. He would then bring it home and pour it all down the drain. He would then say, "I saved the Muslims a little today." He would then go to a prostitute, give her some money and tell her to close her door till the morning. He would then return home for a second time and say, "Today I saved a young woman and the youth of the believers from vise." The people would see him buy wine and they would see him go to the prostitutes and they would consequently talk about him. One day I said to him, "When you die, there will be no one to bathe you, there will be no one to pray over you and there will be no one to bury you!" He laughed and replied, "Don't fear, the Sultan of the believers, along with the pious ones shall pray over my body."The Sultan began crying. He said, "By Allah! He has said the truth, for I am Sultan Murad. Tomorrow we shall bathe him, pray over him and bury him." And it so happened that the Sultan, the scholars, the pious people and the masses prayed over him.

We judge people by what we see and what we hear from others. Only if we were to see what was concealed in their hearts, a secret between them and their Lord.

"O you who believe, abstain from many of the suspicions. Some suspicions are sins. And do not be curious (to find out faults of others), and do not backbite one another. Does one of you like that he eats the flesh of his dead brother? You would abhor it. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is Most-Relenting, Very-Merciful."
(The Holy Quran, 49:12)

Story of La ilaha ila Allah! Sheikh & parrot

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of Godthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful."

Story of La ilaha ila Allah!
There is no god but Allah!

There was a sheikh who was teaching his students Aqeedah (faith),
He Taught them la ilaha ila Allah and explain to them, educated them  just like how the Messenger of Allah,
صلى الله عليه و سلم
Taught his companions faith and planted it within themselves.

The sheikh loved breeding birds and he had a cat. So he was given a parrot by one of the students as a gift. And with days the Sheikh liked the parrot. And he use to take him in his lessons, Until the parrot knew how to say la ilaha ila Allah, He use to utter it night and day. One day the students found their sheikh crying and sobbing. When they asked him, he told them the cat attacked the parrot and killed it. They told him, if is this the reason why you are crying, we will bring another parrot better than this.. The sheikh said i am not crying because of this. But it made me cry when the cat attacked the parrot it was shouting and screaming until it died. He use to say la ilaha ila Allah a lot, however, when he was attacked by a cat he forgot. He did nothing but scream! Because the parrot said it with his tongue only but his heart did not learn it. Then Sheikh said: I am #afraid to be like this parrot. We live our lives repeating la ilaha il Allah with our tongues but when  death comes we forget. We don't remember it because our hearts did not know it.
So he sat with his students and they started crying in fear of lack of honesty in la ilaha ila Allah.

Who is God? Who is Allah?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
"In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."

Who is God? Who is Allah?

In the following verses God The Exalted describes Himself in The Holy Quran:

"Say, "He is Allah , [who is] One,
Allah , the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Ikhlas, 112)

"Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Baqarah, Ayatul Kursi, 2:255)

"It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain.
And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ar-Rad, 13:2-4)

"Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs lose [prematurely] or exceed. And everything with Him is by due measure.
[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted.
It is the same [to Him] concerning you whether one conceals [his] speech or one publicizes it and whether one is hidden by night or conspicuous [among others] by day."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ar-Rad, 13:8-10)

"Then Allah will accept repentance after that for whom He wills; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
(The Holy Quran, Surat At-Tawbah, 9:27)

"Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?
And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"
Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."
[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is."
So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ya-Sin, 36:77-83)

Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation.
And that is not difficult for Allah.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ibrahim, 14:19-20)

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who disbelieve equate [others] with their Lord.
It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.
And He is Allah , [the only deity] in the heavens and the earth. He knows your secret and what you make public, and He knows that which you earn.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Anam 6:1-3)

We have created you, so why do you not believe?
Have you seen that which you emit?
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Waqiah, 56:57-59)

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Waqiah, 56:63-64)

And have you seen the water that you drink?
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?
And have you seen the fire that you ignite?
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Waqiah, 56:68-72)

And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.
And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do.
And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers take him, and they do not fail [in their duties].
Then they (His servants - souls) are returned to Allah , their true Lord. Unquestionably, His is the judgement, and He is the swiftest of accountants.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Anam, 6:59-62)

Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"
Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Qasas, 28:71-72)

And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day He says, "Be," and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the dominion [on] the Day the Horn is blown. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Acquainted.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Anam, 6:73)

Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allah ; so how are you deluded?
[He is] the cleaver of daybreak and has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for calculation. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know.
And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling [on the Earth or in the wombs] and of storage [in the testicles or in the graves]. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand.
And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
But they have attributed to Allah partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated for Him sons and daughters without knowledge. Exalted is He and high above what they describe.
[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.
That is Allah , your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things.
Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Anam, 6:95-103)

Indeed, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death. And you have not besides Allah any protector or any helper.
(The Holy Quran, Surat At-Tawbah, 9-116)

Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne, arranging the matter [of His creation]. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah , your Lord, so worship Him. Then will you not remember?
(The Holy Quran, Surat Yunus 10:3)

It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light and determined for it phases - that you may know the number of years and account [of time]. Allah has not created this except in truth. He details the signs for a people who know
(The Holy Quran, Surat Yunus 10:5)

Say, "Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? Or who controls hearing and sight and who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges [every] matter?" They will say, " Allah ," so say, "Then will you not fear Him?"
(The Holy Quran, Surat Yunus 10:31)

It is He who made for you the night to rest therein and the day, giving sight. Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Yunus 10:67)

And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ar-Rad, 13:3)

It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command and subjected for you the rivers.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Ibrahim, 14:32)

[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Taha, 20:53)

Whatever is in the heavens and earth exalts Allah , and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent.
He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.
It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah , of what you do, is Seeing.
His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. And to Allah are returned [all] matters.
He causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night, and he is Knowing of that within the breasts.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Hadid, 57:1-6)

He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
He is Allah , the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Hashr, 59:22-24)

These are words of God (Glorified and Exalted be He) Himself that were sent to the mankind throw Holy Spirit Jibrael (Gabriel) to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). From these verses we understand that God (GAE) is not human. HE is The One, Who created men. The phrase "...He neither begets nor is born..." tells us that God (GAE) was never born and HE (GAE) never gave birth. Dictionary definition of word "Beget" is "(Typically of a man, sometimes of a man and a woman) bring (a child) into existence by the process of reproduction." God never created any human Himself throw reproduction. With His Almighty Power HE (GAE) says word "be" and the creation comes to an existence. Verse: "His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is." The way HE (GAE) created Adam (mpbu) with no mother and no father, HE (GAE) created Jesus Christ with mother but no father. Allah (Subḥānahu Wa Ta'Ala) does not have any form like we do face, hands, body etc. God (GAE) does not have any needs. HE (GAE) never sleeps, never gets tired, never rests, never eats.. Allah (SWT) hears all, knows everything, listens to every prayer and every heart, and responds to whoever HE (GAE) wills.

God has 99 names. ALLAH - is one of the names of God. This Arabic word is the best name for several reasons:
1) It means "One God" for all mankind
2) It does not change it's writing in any language during translation
3) It does not have any gender (because God is not male not female)
4) ALLAH is always singular - never plural
5) It sounds same regardless from which direction it is read

"Allah - there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Taha, 20:8)
