Did you know that angels protect every one of us all the time?
Allah (SWT) mentions about it in The Holy Quran:
"For each one are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allah . Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron."
(Surat Ar-Rad, 13:11)
The Tafsir (detailed explanation) al-Jalalayn of this ayat says:
For him, for man, are attendants (muʿaqqibāt), angels who follow him, to his front and to his rear (the meaning of muʿaqqibāt is the angels of the night and day, which come one after the other in succession), guarding him through God’s command, that is, by His command, from [the danger of] the jinn and others. Indeed God does not alter the state of a people — He does not deprive them of His grace — unless they have altered the state of their souls, from [their] comely nature, through an act of disobedience. And if God wills misfortune, chastisement, for a people there is none that can repel it, either from among the attendant angels or others; and they, for whom God wills misfortune, have no protector (min wālin: min is extra) to avert it from them, apart from Him, that is, other than God.
From this ayat we understand that there are angels who are appointed to protect humans' eyes, ears, hands, legs and so on. In case if we fall, or get hurt, most of the time the injury appears right next to an eye, or right by the ear but it does not effect the main part. It's because the angels protected us by the will of Allah (SWT). And they guard every each and one of us at all times. The angels come to us in 2 groups. One group comes at the time of Fajr (the angels of the day) and another one at the time of Asr (the angels of the night). They come in the manner that one group "steps on the heels" of another. Meaning that we are not left without protection even for a second throughout the day. Subhan Allah! Such a Mercy from our Creator! After the group of angels leave us they go straight to Allah (SWT) to give a report of our actions. And of course Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing but HE (SWT) still listens to them. If the angels left us while we were praying at the times of Fajr and Asr then the report sounds beautiful: "We came while he/she was praying and we left them in the same condition." But imagine, if we were doing something else at that time. What report will be given to our Creator? Sometimes we are embarrassed when someone talks about our mistakes in the presence of other people. Now think, every day the angels are talking about us in the presence of The Almighty and other angels. How embarrassed would it be when our report is not what we wanted to hear..
May Allah (SWT) strengthen our imaan and help us fulfill HIS commands. In shaa Allah!
